10th IAG INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GEOMORPHOLOGY

12-16 September 2022, Coimbra

Dear participants

The 10th IAG International conference on Geomorphology is now over. For about a week, over 500 geomorphologists from 47 different nations gathered in Coimbra to present their work and discuss geomorphological processes and landforms, relief evolution, research methods, and the implications of geomorphological research on the environment and society.

Naturally, each of us will evaluate the conference in our own way, but the “Coimbra organising Team” feels that the main goals have been achieved and is therefore extremely pleased with how the conference turned out from both a scientific and social perspective.

The IAG and its Executive Committee deserve a very special thanks for their unwavering support of the conference. Additionally, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the 2 keynote speakers, Monique Fort and José Luís Zêzere, for their excellent lectures and to the nearly one hundred conveners who diligently planned and oversaw the twenty-four thematic sessions. We appreciate your works, very much. Around 30 national, Cape Verdean, Spanish, and Brazilian researchers were involved in the planning and execution of 8 field trips and an intensive course for young researchers, which made up a significant portion of the conference. We acknowledge your efforts and kindness as well.

But the conference’s hundreds of participants, who came to Coimbra to share their work, talk about their working methods, and exchange knowledge, were its most central element. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a warm welcome and express our gratitude for your participation.

You can look through the conference photos at the link below to revisit your time in Coimbra.
